Read on to find out 5 Ways to Create Content that Speaks To People.
Starting up is always the hardest part. I have been running my own agency since 2001, and during this time I have had clients of all types. At times it’s hard to figure out what a client wants. In my experience, I know why this happens to me and perhaps to you. When I have a discovery meeting with a client and I walk away not knowing how to formulate the marketing brief, I know I did something wrong.
Focus on the Goals of Your Audience
Face-to-face meetings where there is an interchange of questions, answers, pauses and sips of coffee often leads to banter and rhetoric. You learn more about a person when their guard is down, right? That’s what this back and forth bantering leads to. You want to really get a sense of who your client is and what their goals are. So you need to get inside the mind of your ideal customer in order to create content that speaks to them.
The easiest way to do that is to talk to people, strike up a conversation and find out what their problems are, which will help you figure out how to solve them. If you can’t reach them face-to-face, try a survey, a poll or a series of questions that give you insight into how they think and feel. The very best content is content that engages your target audience, where your audience feels like you understand their struggles and genuinely care to help.
Avoid overdoing the, “BUY FROM ME” posts. you might turn off your audience because those posts are focused on your needs. When you focus on your audience’s needs, you can earn their trust and then their business.
Keep It Positive
Of course, there are negative aspects to life. We get it. To start your content or post, you may raise a problem to the audience. This is how many presentations begin; they present an obstacle (pain) the prospect has experienced, all with the goal of leading them to your solution with your product or service. Be careful taking this route as it can easily lead to bashing the competition. Be the beacon, not the bully.
With so much negativity swirling around today it is even more important than ever to create an excellent experience for your audience. Through great content you can grow your customers’ love for your brand.
Walt Disney said it best, “Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends.” Creating love between your company and your audience will create positive word of mouth that’s absolutely priceless. Of course, if you are selling you want people to buy, everyone gets that. However, you want the customer’s journey through your company to be positive, and for them to share that with others.
Use Infographics
Remember learning about Egyptian pyramids and pharaohs and seeing the art and hieroglyphs on the walls? Those pictures on the walls still speak to us, even after thousands of years. We don’t even have to know exactly what they say, we can see the stories they’re depicting.
It’s fun to learn things from pictures, and takes way less time than reading a paragraph of words. These days, we have our own version of pyramid art — INFOGRAPHICS!
According to Wikipedia, infographics are “graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge intended to present complex information quickly and clearly.”
Huh? An infographic takes data, organizes it and makes it visually appealing. Using graphs, charts, visual cues and maps information become memorable. Remember, we want to connect with our audience. When you create an infographic, make it sharable as a PDF or JPEG for your audience.
When they don’t have to read large amounts of text, your audience can easily process the information that’s being shared and can better engage with your message.
If you are not a visual artist, there are resources to help you build great infographics.
