Entrepreneurs – When We Share More… We Grow More
When I stumble upon something great, I share.
You may have seen hashtags I frequently use – #LearnTogether, #GrowTogether.
Isn’t this what being an entrepreneur is all about, sharing the journey of building a successful business, learning what works and what doesn’t? I for one say, yes this what we should do.
The key to making your life intrinsically unique and worthwhile is to share what you know. When you share the knowledge you have, it creates growth and builds connections.
Let’s build a real-world achievable goal that you can pull off after reading this blog. Today (and everyday hereafter) share an idea. Share one idea with just five (5) people. Your audience gets to hear it once, and you get to hear it five times. This is further preparing you for the future. Here is a small list of where you can share your ideas:
1. Family
2. Colleagues
3. Friends
4. via Social Media – reach out with individual messages
The Power of Sharing
What power, sharing has. When you share with someone else, you have the potential to transform their thinking, mood, attitude and even their future. If you share with someone else, you can help change their whole life.
And there is more to be gained by sharing. When you take the time to share, you yourself can be transformed. If you share in person or via a call with someone, doesn’t it make sense that by the fifth time you share the information or story, you are going to be better at presenting the message than the first time? If you use email or social media to share, don’t be indolent and cut and paste the message. Take the time to personalize and craft what you are sharing for each person.
What do Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates all have in common? Each is an outstanding conveyor of ideas; they know how to share. They’re able to get in front of others, clearly present their vision and persuade people to buy in.
I am an entrepreneur. If you are too, then you are in sales. As entrepreneurs we have to be able to convey ideas to investors, partners or potential clients. No concept is killer, no business plan is airtight until we go out and promote it. To be successful, reach out, make contact.
Yes, this takes work.
Human connections are still relevant. Understand I enjoy content building as a marketer. However, I am not satisfied to wait for my content to build my relationships. People can read my blog, or connect with me through social media and may even buy from me because of this. This is still limiting.
When you have to sell in an oversold society, the last thing someone wants to here is a ‘new’ sales pitch. Don’t you feel you have heard it all before? If you are just another voice in the wind will you make any impact? No, you won’t.
If a glass is full of water, can it hold any more? The answer is yes. Yes—but you have to pour some out. Take this as a personal challenge, when you want more — pour out what you have, and enjoy the process of your glass getting full again. Then repeat.
Here is something to think about . . . unlike the glass, it will always be that glass and will have the same capacity. You would most likely agree this is not the case with us as people. Our potential for growth is boundless and can increase the more we share. We’ll get bigger and bigger and bigger.
We’re all looking for growth in our life—the new life tomorrow, this month, this year, next year. This growth can happen through sharing.
